CasaTunes Skill for Alexa

Welcome to the CasaTunes Skill for Alexa. By enabling this skill on your Alexa based devices, including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, Look and Show devices, you can control your CasaTunes or musicBox 6 music in one or more rooms, by simply using voice commands.

We recommend you install your Amazon devices in each room where you would like to have hands free, voice control of your music. We also recommend you assign a room to each Amazon device, using the Select command (see below for an example), so that you can use a shorter version of the voice commands that omits having to specify the room name. We refer to these abbreviated commands as the short version of the command (and each short version of a voice command is prefixed with the Short Version badge in the command summary below.)

We strongly recommend you use standard room names due to limitations in the way Alexa resolves room names. For example, you may encounter difficulties if you have 2 similar named rooms, called David's Office and Jodi's Office. If Alexa is struggling to determine the name of a room, we recommend you change the room's name. Assigning a room name to an Amazon device will help minimize these types of issues, in addition to shortening the commands.

Getting Started

To enable your CasaTunes skill on your Amazon devices, follow these steps:

  1. Open the CasaTunes (or musicBox 6) Android or iOS App and select Settings from the menu
  2. Select Alexa Registration from the Settings menu options
  3. The App will automatically generate an Alexa Registration code and copy it to the clipboard
  4. Open the Alexa App, and select Skills from the menu options
  5. Search for the CasaTunes skill and select it
  6. Select ENABLE SKILL
  7. You will be prompted to enter and submit a Registration code
  8. Paste the code, that was automatically copied to the clipboard, and follow the instructions
  9. For each Amazon device, we recommend you setup the associated CasaTunes room, if any. For example, to setup the Kitchen with the Amazon device located in the Kitchen, you would issue the following voice command:

    "Alexa, ask kasa tunes to select Kitchen"

CasaTunes provides a robust set of voice commands you can use to control your music. We recommend you print out this cheat sheet and use it as a reference guide until you are familiar with the commands.

Invocation Name

The invocation name for triggering a CasaTunes skill, is kasa tunes. Kasa is phonetically spelled as Kah-sah. The invocation word is used as follows:
